The session will be a sample lesson on how to use a literary text and make it accessible to high school students of Italian using several pre- and post-reading activities. Attendees will participate in the lesson as learners, and will receive handouts of all the materials used in order to implement the lesson in their classroom. During the session attendees will see how a piece of literature deemed too difficult for beginning language levels (Madonna Filippa, a novella from the Decameron) can be made accessible to students by using many different strategies. In Italian.
