Infusing Culture in Assessment: How to Write Novice IPAs

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

The goal of this session is to unpack how Integrated Performance Assessments (IPAs) can drive instruction that is focused around culture. The three modes of communication will be reviewed as well as ideas on how to practice them. Examples of integrated assessments will include authentic documents, demonstrating how to link the modes of communication around one cultural topic. Rubrics for all three modes of communication will be shared and participants will work on creating their own.

As a Middle School teacher I am always searching for how to take instruction and assessment to the beginning learner. My students are sophisticated yet don't yet have a wealth of experience in the language. I teach using stories, interviews, authentic documents and IPAs. I love to share ideas and help others in their own teaching.
